A Jaunt to Brighton – London Day Trips

welcome to brighton sign

While spending a few days in London doing “research”, with my friend and marketing partner, Sherese, we decided a day trip out of the city would be a good chance to work while we explore.  We hopped on the overground from Victoria station, headed south for the seaside town of Brighton.  In just under 90 minutes we arrived at the most darling sunny little town alongside the English Channel.   There is something here for everyone and it kept us entertained all day!

Shopping  – There are so many unique independent boutiques in the lanes. At Zoingimage  we purchased wooden postcards to send home, and at Ju-Ju Sherese purchased an adorable corduroy dinosaur jumper dress (not pictured).

The lanes are good for a few hours of wandering in and out of the shops.

History – The Royal Pavilion was built in 1787 as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales.  This incredible building was constructed by John Nash in a combination of Moorish, Indian, Gothic and Chinese styles.  The interior tour is just as amazing to look at as the exterior.

Beach – Despite the chilly temperature, we enjoyed a nice stroll along the boardwalk, and the rocky beach along the English channel.  There are lots of colorful beachside shacks selling unique items as well as great places to stop and eat.  Photo credit of beach shacks : FUFear.

Entertainment: Although nobody would go with me, there is a carnival on the pier that has a pretty terrific looking roller coaster.  Here is a great photo of the coaster from Getty Images.

No matter what time of year, a day trip to Brighton must be on your London to-do list. Fair warning that in the summer it can get pretty crowded though!
