Siena is divided into 16 contrada or neighborhoods all represented by a different animal. Try this fun treasure hunt when you visit. 
The folks in Siena are very loyal to their contrada. So much so that during Siena’s most famous horse race (the Palio), they always support their original neighborhood. When they marry outside their district, they return to their home district for the length of the race.
